Bella's History
Only fifteen Cherubini 24s were ever built. Bella was commissioned as a private runabout by a member of one of New York's notorious crime families. Money was no object: she has the only complete mahogany interior of any 24 and cost nearly twice as much as any other. Built in 2018 and finished in 2019, she was the last boat Cherubini built before the pandemic closed the yard. When federal prosecutors caught up with her owner, his assets were placed in receivership and Bella sat in storage, never launched. In 2026 Captain Mike Brill, a Miami yacht broker, found her and brought her to Coconut Grove. Her original 540 hp racing engine was replaced with a brand-new 380 hp engine for reliability; she still rumbles but is quiet enough to talk. Why Bella? Her name joins Beck and Ella, two of Mike and Kim's four children, and bella means beautiful in Italian.

Captain Mike Brill
Bella is owned and often operated by Captain Mike Brill, a graduate of SUNY Maritime College. Mike holds a U.S. Coast Guard unlimited tonnage, unlimited oceans master's license, the highest a merchant mariner can earn. After the academy he spent years as captain of cruise ships, megayachts and cargo ships all over the world. Today his ship is a little smaller, and the voyage is Coconut Grove to Vizcaya.
